my wild ass guess is his gun jammed or he lost the rhythm to get it properly cycling. AR15s are NOT designed to be...or capable of...firing fully automatic. depending on the manufacturer there are many, many quality issues at play. hell...some of them have shit-grade aluminum lower receivers. theres so much that can go wrong with one of those things in semi-auto its not even funny. run them full auto and theres all kinds of gremlins that will crawl into the moving parts and shit, piss, and puke all over them.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

Good to know...I didn't know that about that particular gun. You would think your one tool you chose to complete something for lack of a better term "important" would be fully and thoroughly researched ahead of time. Not that mass shooters are known for their logical and practical thinking though so your guess is probably as good as any. -

thats what i posted earlier. if he wanted to cause the max damage possible he wouldnt have used a 5.56 caliber in a magazine-fed semi-auto. with his resources he could have either purchased or had someone (or even himself) modify a semi-auto into fully automatic...or even purchased something that 'was' designed to be fully auto but purchased legally as a modified or built-as semi-auto, then converted it to, or back to, fully auto.
he planned this out extensively enough to have a stockpile of mags, TWENTY plus fucking guns, ammo, surveillance/countersurveillance gear, THEN lugged all that shit up to the 32nd floor...c'mon... -

mostly pistols and shotguns, I assume it's the same in most places - rifles and long-guns aren't used in your average crimes so there's not much of a market for them.
