Why do americans make retarded spy movies?

2017-09-15 at 6:35 PM UTCI like james bond because he likes to slap women, but every other movie is like a parody of parody, like the avengers, mr bean, Mortdecai, the kingsman, they are always are overly posh to the point of being unwatchable.
The only spy movie I like with a british actor is crank because he doesn't act like a dandy

2017-09-15 at 6:40 PM UTCThe International wasn't really really a spy movie but it was pretty good and spy:ish, you should check it out. It took itself seriously. If you want to watch a "real" spy movie, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is boring as fuck but also a pretty engaging real spy film.

2017-09-15 at 6:42 PM UTCBut you're right, I do hate the parody like feel of most spy films. They can't do the genre right, so they amp up the clichés to 11 and just go for cheese instead. It's a lot easier and shittier, but it sells.

Dude they've done it over and over and over. Especially if you look the current sci-fi movies coming out they always have collin ferrel or scarlet johanson, and its done the same way again.
I want to go see the new blade runner because I liked the original but it looks like they chopped it up like they did total recall, phillip k dick is rolling in his grave, massively.
I don't go to movies often, I only watch certain things that I have already had a specific interest in and they almost fail to deliver. The only recent pdk movie that was done right was a scanner darkly.

-
2017-09-15 at 6:52 PM UTCAnyway, kinda unrelated, but I've been thinking lately that someone should totally make a movie based on the Thief games.

2017-09-15 at 6:59 PM UTCNever seen it. Or the superhero movie, for that matter. And Mr. Bean was always just a silly comedy, but I guess the movie was a spy movie, but I still think it was more of a stupid comedy than a spy movie.
Movies are dumb. Our society is so overly saturated with a culture of glamorizing people for playing pretend. I can barely stand to watch most TV or movies nowadays. I tend to just see it as grown ups playing make-believe. It's rare that something actually has any immersion or any reason to be interesting. It baffles me why our society is so centered around that sort of thing. -

I get what you're saying but there are some good movies out there that are actually well done.. I don't watch a lot myself, especially these days.
But mr bean did have a spy movie.
Scarlett Johansson did the live action ghost in the shell and other sci-fi movies in the last 6 years but it was very half assed.
The comedy movies these days are all based around partying and girl power, I'm just pointing out the plight of american cinema, david.
