there is a long tradition of christian mysticism that believes all sorts of things that we would consider odd, but were actually couched in esoteric terms and may have been describing something allegorical and perhaps now lost to the ages. i.e. empty symbolic rituals with no connection to the original sacred intent.
some modern day examples are the quakers, the shakers, and some of the gnostic christians. -

Rome was Pagan.
Then the Christians had a revolution and it became Christian.
Also, evil spirits exist for Christians, and those can be compared to ghosts. -

The problem with Christianity is that the Catholics made it popular by force.
catholics are barely christian, IMO
and I say that having been raised in an extended family that was exclusively catholic
my immediate family aren't, just my extended family.
