Most countries (and US states) have crummy flags. They are either too complex like the American and British flags or boring tri-colors that nobody can remember exactly.
They also come in odd proportions from 1:2 to 2:3. Flag manufacturers will adjust them to 3:5 so there's no point using anything else.

The US flag is the hardest to redesign because it has been copied by so many states, corps and countries.
But we're going to need a new flag when we annex Canada, etc. Can't keep adding those stupid stars. Could just settle on 77. But I'd just get rid of the ugly thing.
