well if you didn't cover it you would of still had to dig it out. at least when it's light enough you can pull the car cover off pulling the rest of the snow off saving you 5 minutes or so -

Pulling a car cover off with snow on it is like trying to dissect a greased pig in a snowstorm. Good luck with that. It'll save you five minutes, sure, but it'll add about fifty to your daily swear count. And for what? So you can still have a snow-covered car that's slightly less snow-covered than before? after he dug the majority off he might save 5 minutes by pulling (clearly whatever he has the strength to pull with leverage) and save a small amount of time. he's pissing and moaning he fell asleep. Now maybe he meant to say "I fell asleep before I could get it in the garage"
