Rapper TI was super paranoid about that too. He mentioned having to whisper to his girlfriend what he wanted to order cause he was too paranoid to order the food himself out of fear they'd put something bad in it.
I think the food industry terrorism in Fight Club was sort of a covert warning to people because there is actually a lot of people that put fucked up stuff in restaurant food, although I think they do this to grocery store food too -

Some of the worst I've seen were French. One was a French hitman that was obsessed with cinema and goes around with his personal film crew raping and murdering women, kids, elderly, basically anyone.
