Me: "Yes but he's not here today"
Mary "That's fine, can I speak to his supervisor".
me: "You are, that's me"
Mary "oh hi, I just wanted to make you aware of the current situation with Bill, He's being investigated for sexually harrassing several female employees at xxxx, this has been ongoing since 2021 and when he was fired he is still showing up to the business and trying to make contact with several of the female employees he was harrassing. A police investigation is under way"
Me: "Oh I see"
Mary "Well I dont know if you have female employees there but I felt you should be aware of the situation"
Me: "Who are you again, are you part of the investigation?"
Mary "No, I'm a supervisor at xxxxx, we are really close to where your company is and I just wanted you to be aware of the police investigation going on"
me: "ok thanks for the info, we'll evaluate it"
click.
So, "bill" has been here now for about 4 months..he's worked her before on and off as a temp and he's been perfectly fine behaviorally..no problem whatsoever. He works under (no pun intended) our female production manager….so I called her into my office and filled her in on the call I just had.
I asked her if "Bill" had made any moves on her or done anything weird…she said no, not at all.
Now yesterday "bill" took an "emergency call" and I was close by to him while he was talking…not that I was listening but from the little I picked up it sounded like he was talking to a girl…girlfriend and wasn't happy about something. Later the production manager said she talked to him about it because he was on the phone for like 30 mins and she was pissed about the time lost.
She said bill was very apologetic and nearly in tears.
I told her my suspicion that this was a bullshit call, maybe a disgruntled ex girlfriend trying to get him fired or something especially after semi overhearing the call yesterday, the report form the production manager and the fact how the hell did "mary" know 1. where he was working now 2. that we are really close to her business and 3…if this had been going on since 2021 why is there only now a police investigation.
Female production manager seemed concerned with the fact that if it was true, why had Bill not tried anything on with her…I suggested she was probably too ugly. (fucking lol)
Anyway when "Bill" comes in on Monday I'm going to have a talk with him about the call and see what he has to say, I'm gonna tell him I don't really care if it's true or not as he's behaved fine here, I just curious now if this was just a bullshit call of some disgruntled chick trying to get him fired.
Update:
Talked to "Bill" this morning. Told him about the call and my suspicions it was just some 304 trying to get him in trouble.
He started to get teary eyed and said "Yeah none of it is true and I know exactly who it is, can I make a quick call"
I told him to go in the conference room, compose himself, make his call and get back to work. -

2024-10-21 at 8:24 PM UTCDo people still find Daniel Tosh funny? He's coming to my town and I was thinking of getting tickets. Not to sound like a gay hipster, but I watched his standup before he got famous and own show and I always thought he was really funny.
However, towards the end he pushed it too far IMO and came of as trite, and to be honest a bit gross. However, his Happy Thoughts special I watched on TV was really good. I'm conflicted.
Apparently he has a podcast now, and he seems to have taken it down a notch. I'm wondering if I should buy tickets or not. I like comedy shows, been to a few. -
2024-10-21 at 8:29 PM UTCLive comedy is always much funnier than watching it on TV etc. I've been to quite a few comedy shows in my time and enjoyed them all.
I'd buy tickets and go if I was you...it should be new material if he's doing a comedy club tour rather than stuff you've seen already...although that did happen to me one time, I saw a chick comedian live and she did exactly the same material that I'd seen her do on TV a few months earlier. -

I agree completely, even small clubs with unknowns can be a great time. No lie, I saw Norm McDonald, about 7 years before his network TV debut on Letterman, in a small comedy club in my home town. This was before anyone knew who he was or even was anyone.
I recall leaving the show thinking that guy has got it. I never thought much about him or his name until almost 10 years later when all of sudden I see the guy on SNL. And well, the rest is history.
But that's the cool thing about small comedy clubs, you never know, you just might see the next iconic comedian and have a great time for not a lot. -

standup comedy is a jeuuish musky-rova and a trojan horse to enter white mangs consciousness as a harmless, gentle creature while they destroy their habitat from within. -
