You old fucks say stuff like this and then complain when the wait at the drive through is more than 5 minutes. Name one so called “unskilled entry level position” that we could function without for a day without several large companies going under. -

If you’re necessary for a company to function you should be payed a liveable wage. There shouldn’t be people working 60+ hours in this country who can barely afford rent, food, and utilities with 0 room to save money. -

What does any of what you are staying have to do with minimum wage?
As I said earlier...min wage is for kids, not adults...if you ARE an adult and can only secure min wage jobs that's your problem...SOLELY your problem...not any company's fault.
Hell even most fast food places pay more than min wage now...the only large place I'm aware of that pays min wage is walmart...and again, if you are applying for a min wage job at waldoworld...that's your dumb fault.
I hire unskilled people right now at $16hr...I have 3 of them here at the moment getting paid that, we train them...prefer those without experience as they don't bring their dumb "uhhh well we did it differently at the last place i worked" philosophy.
Min wage is for kids...kids still living with mommy and (maybe) daddy...not adults who have actual bills to pay. -

Have your other expenses increased by that amount? Did your bosses object to you trying to increase wages so much? I'm getting interested in the 2022 - onwards inflation. -

It was gradual raise for them...12, then 13 etc...I just upped it to 16 a couple of weeks ago because the 3 guys we have here now are doing pretty good and so I "rewarded" them. There isn't really an unemployment problem in Houston...if you want a job you can work...the less you pay the lower quality people you get etc.
My old boss retired earlier in the year (well he's still being paid as a consultant for the next 2yrs) and sold the company to a $300 million "conglomerate". For now they left me running the Houston facility and have basically told me "business as usual, you're the expert on your business so do what you need to do".
Going from a 4 mil company to part of a 300 mil company obviously the cash flow and costs we incur are peanuts to them...they wouldn't care if I paid them $25hr. -
2024-10-17 at 1:24 PM UTCBesides the 3 guys getting $16hr I have another temp from a temp agency who started a couple of weeks ago, he gets $20hr...with the temp agents cut we're paying over $30hr for him...the overlords don't care.
He's 23yrs old, kinda slow but reliable and keeps his mouth shut (which is always great). His prvious job was taking care of animals at an animal shelter...ZERO experience in our field..which is exactly what I like...training out bad habits is worse than training someone from scratch.
So yeah...if you are an adult making $7.80hr or whatever the min wage is...AGAIN, THAT'S ON YOUR LAZY DUMB ASS.
