Satan controls practically everything. He delights in his God-given power. That's why Satan took Jesus up to the top of an unusually high mountain, a place where the view was monumental, and offered him all the kingdoms of the world if he would only bow down and render a single act of worship to him. He revels in his might and power, and wanted Jesus to acknowledge his kingship. But Jesus said, "Get behind me, Satan, for it is written, 'It is to Jehovah alone we must render sacred service.'" Then Satan departed, satisfied he had made his point. So when we see these "saviors" appear, who are apparently totally genuine in every respect, we have to remember who's really controlling things and events, on his own home turf, no less. This world belongs to Satan the Devil, and you are his enemy. Satan can charm, just like God. He can make bullets whizz past ears just as good as the next alien. The Father of the Lie, no less. He's tricky. He's been around the block a few times. He knows all the angles.
