   I am curious how they modeled 500 million years of climate data since the oldest ice cores we have are from 200,000 years ago IIRC.
   
   they supposedly used an AI/analysis model called PHANDA to attach archaeological data to 'climate models' but there doesn't seem to be much information on it

   “We built our civilization around those geologic landscapes of an icehouse,” Judd said. “So even though climate has been warmer, humans haven’t lived in a warmer climate and there are a lot of consequences that humans face during this time.” She added that the study should serve as a wake-up call. Even under the worst case scenarios, human caused warming will not push the Earth beyond the bounds of habitability. But it will create conditions unlike anything seen in the 300,000 years our species has existed — conditions that could wreak havoc through ecosystems and communities. “As long as one or two organisms survive, there will always be life. I’m not concerned about that,” Judd said. “My concern is what human life looks like. What it means to survive.”

    The rate at which humans can innovate and solve problems is something unique to our species and will stave off the possible future extinction. Don't get me wrong as things get worse, hotter, and more unlivable a lot of people will die but much like the cockroach we will survive in little nooks and crannies and in bizarre ways forever.
    
    Unless the sun blows up or the aliens come for us the human race will exist forever in one way or another.
