Had an old man bring me a device for repair and after getting his quote, asked me, "Do you give senior citizen discount?"
And I thought to myself, "Senior discount? This nigga had his WHOLE LIFE to figure out his finances and he has the audacity to come in here and ask ME, someone who is still actively figuring out their own life's finances for when I become an old man myself, if he can get a discount?"

At the weed store it says EMT first responders get 30% off, along with military and firefighters. No seniors though because they don't save peoples life.

I don't even request a veterans discount because I know there are veterans that need it more.

I agree generally but also some seniors live on a fixed income. One thing I always tell oldje people is that I have zero expectation that a safety net old age pension actually exists (for me) because guaranteed the day I reach 75 years old (because the age requirement will 100% be raised that much before I hit that age) and then as soon as I apply the day after they will announce it's actually empty and they gave it all away to Israel and I just have to figure it out. Also on this day I will go to the bank and pull out my life savings and they will say "SORRY SIR CAn"T DO THAT"
this is seriously how I view the future of living in this country and I align my life in such a way that when this day happens I won't kill myself. Call it fear or paranoia but it wouldn't be the first time something like this has happened to me. The system is an illusion, a scam that seeks to placate you with sweet lies so you can imagine your children being safe as you go to sleep but I imagine death, destruction, poverty, suffering because I know the truth and don't fall for the GOVERNMENT LIES!!!!!

Dude that actually applies to my life so hard. It seems to me that literally ANYTHING I like or enjoy, SOMEONE comes and takes it away very shortly after I discover it. Whether it's music, food, drugs, etc. as soon as I decide, "I like this", something takes it away and I'm just like wtf, man
Historically, when the oldest still-mostly-alive generation wasn’t the wealthiest, it kinda made sense. Like when you’re old and retired you’re not working, you have less disposable income, so a business might reasonably cut prices a little bit to entice you in.
