It got popular because it’s like the Michael Bay version of avant garde postmodern lit. I mean it is avant garde postmodern lit, it’s just packaged to hold the attention of ADHD children effectively so it managed to get some popularity with the general public instead of just book wonks and /lit/.

It’s good and worth reading, but be forewarned that both Danielewski and his fans are fedora tipping edge lords and your time will be wasted on infantile meta bullshit with some regularity

I do not appreciate their choice of fonts though. I would have used old english for the Minotaur
