Intermittent fasting is a great practice. I believe it helps the body in multiple ways and the 'reason for metabolic action' within fasting, imho, is due to our evolution and genetic makeup as humans as in our past there wasn't an abundance of food, so fasting and hunger was much more common than today.

When I cut out processed foods/seed oils/etc and started doing a little bit of a fast each day, my mental health became much better and so did my physical health.

The whole concept of intermittent fasting is complete and utter bullshit. All that matters is calories in versus calories out... and what those calories are composed of.

Just about everybody (except for Scron) intermittently fasts when they are sleeping. If the concept possessed legitimacy/results, then the vast majority of the population would experience them.

It's a good article but it doesn't technically define fasting ... it doesn't quantify the definition which is obviously critical to the argument. I will reluctantly oblige and say there's tprobably some benefits to it... but I don't think it's easy to define or recognize the benefits...and if there are some I think that they are nominal at best. Certainly not worth all the hype and hoopla surrounding intermittent fasting.
