Dead Internet Theory
-
2022-07-29 at 7:27 PM UTCThe theory goes as follows:
Large portions of what is believed to be man-made content online is actually the result of Artificial Intelligence. With many believing that the end goal in all of this is to astroturf certain ideas, products, people etc.
The origins of said theory comes from a hodgepodge of many different anons discussing the topic, with this post (a) being the earliest and most "comprehensive" entry point for understanding the theory at full.
I remember reading this one a while back and have recently seen it get a lot more traction. So I'm curious to see just how many people here may also think this one has a good amount of plausibility to it... or if they think its nothing more than a crock load of shit. -

I haven't ruled out that the people I talk with online could be AI bots, but don't think it's true. -
2022-08-01 at 1:15 PM UTCIt's not really a theory...you have to be pretty retarded not to realise those Customer service chat bots when you are on certain websites are not real people.
So what? there's still billions of real humans using the internet. -

Everyone knows those things are fake and I don't think companies are trying to play them off as real people. It's a fairly open ""secret"" between customer and employee that those things are automated.

The theory speaks more to things that are trying to pass off as an honest human thought and would be hard to fault someone, had they thought it was real.
This here is a pretty good example of such a thing in action. -

Doesn't matter what the theory alludes to..there are still more and more people using the internet, it's not dead, it's still growing...sure and with it the number of bots...but bots doesn't mean less people... -

the guy from Palo Alto hired to analize their Siren Server AI (one of the most advanced in private sector) stated that it believes the one true religion to be the Jedi Fighter which mirrors Lanny's jedi filter
just another Happenstance huh? I think Lanny works for THE MAN
Also he was fired for bringing it to their attention at Google -
