Nah. I mean I get it: the man is a husk. But that husk is the figurehead for shitlibs, and the second order sociopolitical effects of that figurehusk being assassinated are what's relevant to me. Taking a shot at him would invigorate the left (well, not the left left, but the left) in the same way taking a shot at Trump invigorated the right. The right is practically acting like Trump did go down already, so I'm picturing Biden getting got and the left being able to match the right's energy, and then Trump actually dying to bring the right's hatred fully to fruition. This would throw the election into chaos, some violence would inevitably erupt, but I think in the end there would be some catharsis and a return to sanity.
As it is, the right is on pace to be fucking insane non-stop until half-way through Trump's term (when the realization will finally dawn on them that he's not actually 'Donald J. "Super Hitler" Trump, Christ's Strongest Soldier' - he's just a kinda lib-ish New York City guy). -

Originally posted by Elbow I mean, this is true… but like… I don't know, I guess I was expecting a little more discernment in the ideological enemies they found it worth attacking? Public figures. Like… Kyle Gass? Sure. Can't have one half of Tenacious D on stage saying that shit and expect it not to blow back on him. That's just bad form as a showman. Not surprised about that one in the slightest. Of course he got cancelled. I get it.
But the random home depot cashier grandma? The line cook at a restaurant? The random firefighter? It's just full-on, off-the-deep-end cancel culture at its most asinine and sadistic, and I foolishly believed the right correctly understood that going after average joes for online speech was beyond the pale.
I've consistently thought cancel culture is gay and retarded. I thought the left was gay and retarded for doing it, and I think the right is gay and retarded for doing it. Hell, I even got cancelled myself at one point, for engaging in a casual little bit of… *ahem* witty holocaust denialism. And that was before "cancel culture" was cool.
I think it's about time the right started using the left's tactics. It's poetic justice. -

If they were cancelling people they could demonstrate had personally partaken in cancel culture themselves, that'd be one thing. I'm pretty receptive to "just desserts", so long as they truly are just. Doxxing and harassing some random line cook who's never cancelled anybody, to the point he loses his job, all because he engaged in political speech that upset you online isn't "poetic justice". It's not even justice. It's just a vindictive and petty abuse of power - a power held only momentarily due to the moral upheaval caused by a presidential assassination attempt.
The right couldn't last any longer than 72 hours when placed in front of a lever they could use to torment their political rivals. 72 hours, and they started pulling it with sadistic glee. 3 days. 3 measly days, and they threw away any claim they had to principled belief. It's pathetic. The attempts to justify the lack of principle on the basis of political expedience are pathetic. The sheer cowardice of arguments that boil down to "I can't afford to be virtuous it'll weaken my political project by 0.00001% if I'm not a complete psychopath" disgusts me. "I had to engage in immoral behavior because of my circumstances."
Sickening. smh -

Yes. You're goddamn right. I expect moral behavior from the right. I expect them to be good people. I expect them to not commit evil deeds, and to not try justifying those evil deed by vaguely gesturing at the political affiliation of their victims. I expect the right to be men of honor, not cowards who balk at the thought of having to behave righteously because they find it is burdensome to do so. I expect men of principle to behave in a principled manner.
And if they don't want to do that, then I expect them to know in their souls that they are failing to live virtuous lives and to quietly lament it. I expect them to consider hemlock for the shame of it. -

You'd rather those on the right put a leg up and accept defeat and accept being a victim of the left's tactics indefinitely. -

I expect white people not to go out robbing people just because they've been robbed in the hood a few times. Bad shit being done to you does not, in fact, justify going and doing bad shit to other people. -

why would you expect that?? It's human nature to retaliate against those that have done you wrong...what kind of pansy sits back and lets it happen which simply welcomes more of the same.
When you are being attacked you attack back, when you are being bullied you bully back, when you are threatened you threaten back...etc
You'd never make it a day in prison kid...well you would but you'd be making it as a someone's bitch.
