Originally posted by mmQ I wonder, if there were legitimately a suicide booth, just like that, for that exact price, that you pay to go into and once you go in there's no turning back, and it quickly gasses you into unconsciousness and death, pain free, how high the suicide rate would skyrocket, and how many people stumbling home from bars would go in.
"Hey lemme just make a call ho-"
On second thought, that joke would have worked in the 90's, when phonebooths were still a thing, but not any more. -

I was thinking about this the other day, if there was a perfect way to capture your thoughts' visual and audio components, entertainment would change forever. You would bring the mountain of creation to mohamet, so to speak. The focus of all would shift to your mind; how well you can visualise... And how good your ideas are, period. -
2017-06-16 at 7:51 PM UTCYeah dream recording, like HD actual dream recording, would INSTANTLY change the world. A lot of our heads might actually explode right then and there, upon viewing our first recorded dream.

Their dreams would be under scrutiny too.
Ita hard to think that we wouldn't all get addicted to watching our own dreams the following day. I don't think it would get old either. The trying to retell dreams is always a struggle, and fun when you can, because every part seems so GODDAMN intriguing for some reason.
I was riding on a sheet made out of my own fingernails and HTS, Lanny, and my mom started to huddle around me, the carpet dropped and some JOSH was trying to sell me a point of tech but a door slammed in our face and a lady with 9 eyes came to me 'Buuuuug! Bbbuuuuuug!' and I jumped through my pane glass patio door and fell inside little toad who was sooo indecisive about which blade of grass to make into a paper airplane and and and -

THOUGHT-TECH.
They're called brain computer interfaces and there are actually multiple high-tech companies working on this. Who knows how long it could take. Likely a decade+.
We may be getting something similar and really cool for VR in 5-10 years. It doesn't even require a brain implant, but will allow you to move in virtual reality just with thoughts, possibly even feel things: https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/6hitu8/palmer_luckey_finding_doctors_who_are_willing_to/diyoftn/?st=j40gsv67&sh=5cf555ca
He was the genius who created the Oculus Rift and states he wants to revolutionize VR again, devote his time to this. He's also worth 700 million, so he certainly has the capital and connections to make a serious attempt. It doesn't even seem to be a crazy dream or speculation, although there's no guarantee it will work out at the end, they're actually planning on making this happen.
And by then VR will be incredibly realistic and the computers needed to run it will be much cheaper, particularly with certain technologies that greatly reduce the requirements to run high screens and games.
