    Yeah I moved outta Plymouth completely about 1 1/2 year ago. Shit got dicey so had to put my exit strategy into effect.     my first modem was a 2400bps which took up 1/4th of the case then it was a PCI card when I upgraded to a 14.4 (or whatever it was).

    the noises changed with every speed (I guess that's the handshake letting the host know what maximum speed was coming in?)


    so Modems used the old Telehraph portion of a AT&T? or is it the same copper? it works like a Telegraph vs the phone type of signal? I never got the difference. Like Dial vs tone. the clicks. the pbx box whatever. I always though &T(otse) had something to do with the AT&T the second t being the telegraph. so then what did otse mean?
