   I missed the opportunity to go to CBGB in 1982-83 when I visited and my parents let me sleep while driving into Manhattan and didn't wake me up until we got halfway across the GW Bridge. then spent a few days with friends in Jersey City and only got to visit 42nd and midtown the next day before my mom said "enough of this shit" and wouldn't let me take the path train back to their home which they lived close by. Midtown back then was like San Francisco's tenderloin x10
   
   what a fucking shit-hole it was back then. Seedy as fuck. smelled like piss with hookers everywhere. Yeah this is what I want to do while visiting NYC. years later it cleaned up nicely. now it's sliding back to the old days.
