2017-06-13 at 5:44 AM UTCIt BLOWS MY MIND. My boss is a small business owner, owned his restaurant for 16 years now, clearly makes a shit ton of money, and yet he gets up at 4:30 am evry morning, opens the place, works all morninf, takes a tiny nap in the afternoon among running a few errands then comes back to help close. He does this 6 days a week.LONG ASS DAYS, working sort of hard, and hes approaching 60, his son died in a car accident a few years ago but yet he is ALWAYS in good spirits. I don't get it at all. He should be hiring people like me to do EVERYTHING, which I do, bit if he literally hired ONE other me, he could basically not have to work. I don't get it.

This is why you are the wage-cuck and he is the boss. -
2017-06-13 at 5:47 AM UTCFucking DETERMINISM gonts. It's not that I CANT do better, it's just been determined that this is EXACTLY where I should be, what with my sordid past and poor decisions. I DO deserve this. This was MEANT TO BE.
I know I can get better and I WANT TO. I WILL. I firmly believe I will and I know I have the capacity too. I really do. It's so fucking complicated to me in my head. And not sploo logglic pussle complicated. It's different . It's hard to explain. -
2017-06-13 at 5:47 AM UTCThis is actually relevant to the discussion about income; notice that their supposedly high IQ is only ever good for stroking their own dick and talking about how smart they are, and never actually achieving anything. These geniuses usually end up working at pizza parlours and fast food restaurants for the rest of their miserable lives.

you'd probably understand if you were in his position - the choices being that he takes control of his business that he's 'grown' over the years, or he pays someone else to possibly run it into the ground while he works out what to do with his time now that he suddenly has 6 days free. He's had no time for much else in the past so it's not like he can fill it up with hobbies or projects -

Pretty much what Sop said. Success is about work ethic. The guy probably enjoys the shit out of his job, and his off time. He saves money on not hiring another "you", probably takes pleasure in doing his work, works hard, and probably enjoys his time off more than you do. -

You're right and of course i consider this. He makes lists, he does all the inventory, food ordering, etc . It his HIM and then me and a few other pimple faced cooks. I DO understand that.
I just think, he could literally try to train ME, (WHICH I DONT WANT, I HATE COOKING) to manage his restaurant, or anyone else. That's why owners hire managers right??
Please by the way don't shit all over me right now I'm actually in a depressed slump again and trying to avoid killing myself. -
2017-06-13 at 5:53 AM UTCHe constantly tells me he HATES COOKING. maybe he's just joking. Idk.

2017-06-13 at 5:59 AM UTCI dunno, a lot of people who run single restaurants (or businesses in general) like that (ie. not chains and not franchises) don't just do it for the money, they feel like they're serving the community. They know they could improve profits but they're more concerned about the impact on the cervix they provide than they are about a few extra dollars.
Also, a bunch of knife parts arrived today. Will maybe start a thread showing off my collection when I get home.
Got a 'signet ring' that replaces the backspacer on a Matriarch so you can flip it like a karambit:
Now I just need to find a nice set of scales for it. -

Forget determinism and shit nigga lol. Your agency is predetermined but it is your agency. It's not important.
Make the decision to better yourself.
Whenever someone asks me for advice on changing their shitty life situation, I always tell them the same thing; become a shark with regards to your goals.
Start being ruthless about where you want to be and what you want to do. Set long term goals and break them into small, attainable goals, and focus on achieving each one with ruthless efficiency.
For most people, a big part of their long term goals is career progression, and to that end, you should always, always be working on overdrive, and be the best mother fucking employee that has ever lived. No matter what job you have, do the shit out of it. Whenever I talk to my staff, I'm always looking at their attitude and energy. If your employers are not retarded, they will notice people with a good work ethic, and intelligence. Figure out ways to be valuable and demonstrate your value. -

You shouldn't even envy him, he just sound like a standard workaholic.
What the hell is the point if you don't even enjoy what you do and have no time to enjoy the money you've made?
Did you know that, based on interviews they've done on people that are in the end of life stages, the #1 regret men have is that they spent so much time at work/on their careers and not enough with their families/the people they love and care about, doing the things they genuinely enjoyed?
It's an absolute fool's errand. -
