Can he do it from a religious perspective? Only if she's entered puberty and therefore is pubescent. Can he actually get a bride that young? The answer is no. I use the adverb "concerning" because if a 18 year old marries an 90 year old then sooner than later, he will die of a natural death while she will be a widow at 20 years old and that is a bad situation to be in and should be avoided. -

It's only the Sunnis (who make up the majority of Islamic people) that believe that.
In reality, he did neither marry nor consummate with a 9 year old, we don't know her exact age but based on research, it's between 14 and 18. I believe it's 14.
The Shi'as are also of the opinion that such an idea is false, thus they reject it as well, much like I do.
The reason behind this is that Sunnis follow hadiths (sayings of the prophet, according to the people) as much as they follow the Qur'an, which I don't.
Shi'as don't follow the same hadiths but have a compilation of their own that they follow.
I personally don't attach much value to hadiths because it's the word of man, and therefore, prone to error. Even if believed it's authentic.
My view would be concerning to Sunnis, if I were to mention it -- which I don't, because I am not a fan of debating. -
