The former situation, in our eyes, is a noble thing but the second is degenerate and deserves punishment. We don't have problems with a 16 year old or another teenager marrying an older person, though I do think that it should be avoided, not because they are "children" but because the larger the age gap, the sooner one of the partner dies of old age which leaves the partner who's alive lonely. And that's a bad thing.
