   Ok, looks like you downloaded the wrong language pack. Luckily you should be able to fix that by downloading the English set.
   
   It is also most likely in Polish. Search for it. I know that's a common mistake.

   i figured it out with googlefu
   
   "Had the same problem, here is how I solved it:
   
   Go to C:\Users\user\Documents\The Witcher 3
   
   It's where the game saves it's data (not where the game is installed), could also be C:\Users\user\Documents\MyGames\The Witcher 3
   
   Open user.settings with notepad
   
   You will find SpeechLanguage=RU and TextLanguage=RU
   
   Change those to SpeechLanguage=EN and TextLanguage=EN
   
   Then exit notepad and it will ask if you want to save the changes, click save (not save as).
   
   In the same location (C:\Users\user\Documents\The Witcher 3) Open user.settings.bak and do the same thing you did in user.settings.
   
   Save it
   
   Now your game should be in english. Mine was at least.

   slightly disappointing unless i can somehow make the graphics even worse or boost the game speed in an alternative way

   That game is the graphics benchmark of its age, like Crysis was. No settings fuckery will save you. Get a better computer because W3 is the greatest AAA game of the last decade

    I've gotten several pretty graphic intensive games to run pretty decent by running the game through 3DAnalyzer and then tweaking the graphic settings down to a playable situation. Might be worth a shot.
