Plastic producers have known for more than 30 years that recycling is not an economically or technically feasible plastic waste management solution. That has not stopped them from promoting it, according to a new report.
“The companies lied,” said Richard Wiles, president of fossil-fuel accountability advocacy group the Center for Climate Integrity (CCI), which published the report. “It’s time to hold them accountable for the damage they’ve caused.”
recycling has always been a scam and ive been saying so since day one
- the sole purpose of 'recycling' is for RICO-afflicted waste management companies to have an excuse to reap profits at taxpayer expense. ive personally watched trash pickup trucks pick up the recycling containers and dump them into the general trash
- the waste management companies bill the local municipalities with the claims they have to recycle materials and it costs them more. it is a lie. originally they sent the 'recyclables' mixed with other hazmat in massive barge convoys to china but when china decided they didnt want to be nice to the US anymore they refused to accept any more trash
- the only trash that is recyclable at any modicum of value is cardboard and a very small, select type of plastics. EVERY other item that is recycled (tires, glass, general plastics, concrete, shit (literally...shit from human anuses), mining waste) is done in a way that is intended to pawn off the trash on consumers that is not beneficial to them, but beneficial to the disposal companies.

this is the important part, the vast majority of materials require a lot more energy and work to recycle than to dispose of.
true, if they're recycled a large portion of waste doesn't immediately end up in landfill, but you've also got to consider the amount of waste and pollution created during the recycling process

The power used by the trucks to collect and then the people playing around with (they call it sorting) the so-called recyclables, is exponential more environmentally costly than of they had just thrown the crap into the same landfill as all the other garbage.
It doesn't count as recycling, but 'they' tell you what is actually valuable to be reused by adding a cost to it for failing to return it...such as car replacement parts that have a 'core charge' added to them due to the massive amounts of actually valuable metals in them.

actually no.
they just have all plastic wastes shipped to a 3rd world country to be "processed".
wow, you people are all retards. Of course recycling doesn't mean you get 2 plastic from one plastic, you are always operating at a loss. I've worked in the industry for years and i'm amazed at what they are able to do, something like 60%+ of all materials go back into the economy, it's a circular system like the triangle says.
Call it a scam all you want but that 60% would otherwise just not be utilized. You must live in countries with bad recycling regimens, my economy is pretty bad but I like to think the reason we aren't completely fucked is that we know how to use "every part of our buffalo" and let anything go to waste
We just make immigrants sort it all
Owning a recycling factory is pure profit, just sell bulk materials to industry and pay cheap labor to workers, ez

Well, they've been shipping them there for decades, while lying the entire time and pretending they were recycling it all here in Canada.
That goes back to what I mentioned earlier. The waste management companies bid their services on the prices it would cost to 'ethically' recycle the materials.
What they actually do (did) was barge everything to China who dumped it wherever they could find the room. China backed out when the US pissed them off so now the trash goes to random third world shitholes for the denizens to pick through for bare survival
