    A) KZAK
    B) 2312281442
    C) 2401312359
    E) ATTENTION ALL AIRCRAFT OPERATING IN THE VICINITY OF KWAJALEIN
ATOLL. FOR YOUR SAFETY OVERFLIGHT OF THE ISLAND NORTH OF THE RWY IS
PROHIBITED. THIS IS CONSIDERED A HAZARDOUS AREA WITH THE POTENTIAL
FOR LOSS OF LIFE. ALL ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES MAKE SOUTH TRAFFIC
ONLY TO AVOID EXTREME RADIATION HAZARDS.
    CONTACT BASE OPERATIONS ON
126.2 WITHIN 50NM OF KWAJALEIN AAF.CONTACT BASE OPS PRIOR TO
DEPARTURE TO DECONFLICT WITH RADIATION HAZARD.
    F) SFC
    G) UNL

Radiation warning, levels in the atmosphere lethal enough to threaten loss of life.

KWAJALEIN Atoll is a part of the Marshall Islands where the US has historically performed nuclear testing; they recently test-fired (without live warheads) their MINUTEMAN III ICBMs at the place.

If a nuclear test happened Russia, China and probably others would've certainly detected it, which would imply they're keeping quiet for some reason.

What else would cause lethal radiation levels at a known nuclear testing site?

That NOTAM isn't very specific and seems very...incomplete.

Radiation can also be electromagnetic, such as an emitter of some sort...like radar...or they could be testing some sort of EM emission weapon...who the fuck knows what those fucks are up to half the time.

It's just as likely someone got bored and wrote that up because they wanted to have a fag orgy on the beach and didn't want any witnesses. A couple of weeks, tho...that's a long fuck fest

This is where they test their missile interception technology, including THAAD.

The radiation threat bit looks to be from an EIA. The radar beams they are using seem to be very powerful, and can cause extreme burns. It's probably what you need when you are trying to detect small warheads 1000 miles away, but it's a bad time for any birds or servicemen who get caught in the beam.

    actually very interesting, thanks

would make sense they want planes to stay away if they're testing high-powered radar or some kind of radio jamming/attacks in the area

When I was on a carrier we had to literally wrap our VHS camcorders in several layers of aluminum foil otherwise every time the radar rotated in the direction of the camcorder it would white-out the recording. Even with the aluminum foil it was a whited-out band for a second when the beam was towards the camera
