   While millions of such kits have been sold in the United States, Israelis are forbidden to buy ancestry DNA kits from the store without presenting a court order, as the Israeli government controls these types of purchases due to the "Genetic Information Law."
   "By law genetic information/genetic testing may require obtaining explanations from a doctor and informed consent to perform the test, and should be checked only in the laboratory by a genetic institute recognized and licensed. Such a thing can not exist kits sold directly to the public," the Ministry of Health told Israeli publication Yediot Aharonot. "Such kits are also highly criticized, for their reliability, for the interpretation of their results, and for possible effects on subjects and their families."

   
   Ancestry, 23andme etc. won't ship to israel but people who really want to do it have bought kits from third parties.
   
   I WONDER WHY THE GOVERNMENT OF ISRAEL COULD HAVE A PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE TRYING TO WORK OUT WHERE THEIR FAMILIES ORIGINATE FROM.

   Anyway everyone who went through with the test had to acknowledge the site could be hacked first so it's something I'm fine with.

   supposedly they use end to end encryption the only ones who have access to the unencrypted data are the labs themselves but they only get a code not a name to match it to, and they claim records are destroyed after

    yeah. idk shit about my ancestry i was adopted. also apparently im like 4x more likely to become an alcoholic. dodged that bullet i guess.

    I used to be an alcoholic like I'd take it to college with me in a Sprite bottle and then there was that McDonald's toilet cubicle drinking vodka there. It was when I was with my ex gf. I got off it by turning to cocaine and energy drinks. Stimulants help but they're killing me as well. Now I drink on average once a month.
