I take that as a yes.
I purchased R 7 from the Canadian company discreet before they sold it over to AutoDesk. Autodesk somehow pulled the lincese from my computer.
It said it was a lifetime support but Autodesk said 5 years. I bought this fucker 20 years ago next year. I tried to install it and it lasted 2 days. everything rerouts to their cloud server.
I have to leave the fucking computer offline and make it dedicated. I would use the free one Blender but it doesnt have all the cool shit built into it. and I dont like nodes. I prefer to just attach material directly to models.
I think its like 400 a month to update to the newest version instead of a one time fee. -

as soon as adobe started their jude-originated subscription model i started divesting myself out of main-stream software. i still have 3 1/2" disks from the early 90s with photoshop 1.0. anything 'cloud' based is specifically intended to be open source. a few years ago corporations tried to pass laws that removed copyright protection from everyone...except corporations. in other words, anything on the cloud may as well be considered public domain.
i have no need for blender for anything. a few years ago i experimented with some of those things to make models for a flight sim customization tool but that was a long time ago. nowadays i use davinci for video, gimp for stills, and VLC for generic video shit. i dont do anything complicated enough to where i need more features than those three provide. -

maybe a little mote. this way I don't have to pay all this building permit shit. Just claim it Art and turn the village into a fence wall like i'v seen people do. make a decorative fence that looks like a wall on one side and a fake facade front on the other side. to give it a feel of living in an old community. I might sell this land eventually when spring rolls around and do this in the mountains instead. would make a neat vacation pad. if I can keep squatters out.
25,000 for a 1/3rd acre in the sierras. I need like at least 2 acres to do this.
need a way to fund this. keep me busy doing something literally constructive. its a weird fantasy of mine I been wanting to do for a long time. would make a cool place to have parties and BBQ events for friends I dont have anymore

another reason i dont use computers for that shite anymore: a decade or more so ago i bought a $100-plus software package to design a house. i learned the use and idiosyncrasies of using it...had it about 80% done...then the company went out of business so i have no way to update or export it to be compatible with modern OSs.
now i do everything in a basic MS paint screen or on paper.
fortunately the city i live in allows hand-drawn blueprints as long as theyre legible. i make specs for actual construction permits so i have no problems.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -
