if it's just sprained or bruised or something it'll probably heal by itself
would definitely see a doctor if you can though, depending on the actual injury leaving it untreated could make it worse

girlfriend dislocated her knee a few years back, it tore some ligaments and she needed surgery to fix it, they couldn't reattach the ligament to the bone so they had to drive a spike in and attach the ligament to that
looking into it tendons are more likely to heal by themselves but it's still something to take seriously if it hurts a lot and/or messes with movement
