on the carriers i was on we'd never get ASW reports quickly or accurately enough so we'd send out S-3s to shit-spam sonobuoys on top of anything that might have been a sub. we never dealt with any soviet subs…they were too poor to deploy any…but it pissed off the iranians who barely submerged their kilos.
