Same here, about 99% clothes someone donated from their 80 yo dad. Last time I was looking for some beater shorts to work in and all where like 48" waist. -
2023-10-26 at 5:21 PM UTCI did a few days of community service at our local DAKOTA BOYS RANCH thrift store. The back of that place is just a huge warehouse with about a thousand shelves all filled with the dumbest shit you could imagine. Like, they don't turn down anything that people bring in, and people are constantly bringing in just boxes and bags of almost literal shit.
I think they must have had like 18,000 various retarded Christmas decorations that literally nobody is ever going to even consider buying. And somehow we're supposed sort through all of it and decide which shelving area it belongs with to sit on for the next three decades.
It was basically like a huge episode of hoarders with tiny little paths carved out to walk through to get to all the mounds of garbage. -

I know one guy that would probably buy it. He and his wife live to go to yard sales, flea markets and such. He tends to stretch the truth and tells me all the good stuff he buys. -

I kind of got burned out on it...I go maybe once every couple of weeks now...You can blame the Ebay and the IRS...that new rule is in effect that if you earn more than $600 in the year they report your earnings to the IRS and you'll get a 1099 at the end of the year.
So long story short...besides ebay taking there 12.5% now the IRS will take their 20-30% too. -

And yeah sucks ebay and the IRS basically eating up your profits. You could probably sell for cash if you lived in geek central bay area. -

When I do do it I try to use Offerup now...as that's all cash and no fees/taxes. The people are pretty shady though and not reliable...my rate of successful transactions is like 50%...with most idiots not showing up.
It just got tiresome and with the $$$ really just being for play money the effort vs reward got to the point of "ah fuck this for a bag of sandals!"
If I go now it's probably looking for stuff for myself. -
2023-10-26 at 6:44 PM UTCI'm really surprised it took the gov this long to cash in on internet sales.
