Gaza seen how the neighboring countries of Ukraine opened up and allowed citizens to displace into their countries.. They thought, oh lets all just attack Israel so they will attack us and we can displace and get a better life in a new country. -

Neither. Woman brain. Like starting a fight with your bf so the guy you're crushing on will let you stay at his place.
These are men engaged in religious warfare. They are fighting over beliefs they hold sacred, not trying to monkey branch their way to a new relationship using sympathy. -

2023-10-15 at 2:18 AM UTCIDF was saying the Gaza ground invasion is 'imminent' but have now postponed it for 2-3 days due to 'weather'.
it's the J'ews saying it though so probably an attempt to catch Hamas off guard -

I think if they wanted to the majority would've left already, being forced out of their homes (the Nakhba) is a core part of their identity and culture and outside of religion it's probably the main ideological basis for their resistance -
2023-10-15 at 2:20 AM UTCDo they even need a ground invasion? I was sure they were just gonna air strike the whole area into dust

you always need boots on the ground to control a population - even assuming there were no political qualms with doing so, even with modern weapons and saturation bombing, you can't kill everyone.
there are also massive tunnel networks under Gaza, some that cross into Egypt, so we can probably safely assume there are significant shelters, weapons and supplies they haven't tapped into yet -

2023-10-15 at 2:34 AM UTCThis incentive structure has driven every conflict the US has been involved in since 1945
-
2023-10-15 at 2:35 AM UTCyeah, save the independence and civil wars none of those posed a threat to the mainland US, they started or joined them because they thought it'd be funny

If public perception doesn't matter, than why was propaganda needed for WW1 and 2. Why did public opinion influence foreign policy and the government's decision to pull out of Nam and Afghanistan. -

There was already massive public opinion against going to war in Vietnam in the first place. That’s why they whacked Kennedy. It was unpopular almost the entire time. The goal is to get away with as much as they can and take as much money as possible in the process.
The war economy completely changed after WWII so I’m talking about since then. Watch Eisenhower’s outgoing speech where the term military-industrial complex was first coined. -
2023-10-15 at 2:42 AM UTCMajority of Americans oppose funding Ukraine. Majority of Americans oppose funding Israel. You know who approves funding Ukraine and Israel? Weapons manufacturers and the banks that launder their money.

So you're not arguing my point?
You're shifting the goalposts too in the 2nd paragraph -

Your point about WWI and II were irrelevant to what I was talking about. Other than that I’m not sure WHAT your point is. That there’s not a massive lobbying influence on the US government to stoke conflict around the world so they can steal taxpayer dollars? I’m not saying they control everyone and everything but it is a huge influence, probably the biggest one. -
2023-10-15 at 2:49 AM UTCIt was used to argue against your statement concerning public opinion's pertinence to foreign policy.
You're jumping to conclusions too. -

2023-10-15 at 2:54 AM UTCOne last thing, the US government does not make decisions about foreign policy or really anything that matters, based on public opinion. They make efforts to influence public opinion, about decisions they’ve already made. You got it backwards.
2014 study Gilens et al “Testing Theories of American Politics: Elites, Interest Groups, and Average Citizens.” Public opinion means jack shit. Money is what makes the decisions
