I have owned multiple homes in my life and I literally had a sit down with a real estate broker who told me about this scenario of foreign investors coming in, buying American property as one week out of the year vacation homes mainly for a tax break of some type. it's a tax break in their own country, not ours. as an incentive to drive up rent in the US to fuck up our economy is my guess.
