Originally posted by Malice Oh, and one more thing, Lanny. My cryptocurrency investment strategy isn't outlandish.
OK malice, tell us about your investment strategy. Show us a model, something quantifiable beyond "it looked promising lol".Just a few months ago if you had invested in a few currencies that were sound and had promising developments and potential you could have made a 10x return. Bitcoin, Ethereum, DASH, Litecoin, and Monero have all experienced a many fold increase in value over the last three months. Bitcoin had the lowest return at around 2-3x, the rest were between 5-10x.
I can name a lot of investments that would have made 10x returns, but alas, hindsight.Honestly, you're in the fucking financial sector of SF and are too much of a pussy to invest in anything other than index funds.
Are you going to be satisfied with mediocrity and complacency for the rest of your life. Of course I'm not one to berate you on this specific issue, but if you have the potential you really should set higher goals. It could help you get out of this slump, maybe learning something novel and fascinating, then applying it and succeeding, could help get you out of this slump.
Well "mediocre and complacent" financial strategies have put me in a position of being able to more or less retire tomorrow while your fortune-favors-the-bold approach has you living on SSI and selling personal belongings to stay afloat. I was going to preface that with "sorry to sound like a jerk" but you did just call me a pussy, so you know, I'm not particularly worried when telling you that your ideas about how to make and manage money are fucking dogshit. You act like anyone who doesn't obsess over your particular set of fetishes is just unthinkably ignorant or lazy or is "following the herd" blindly, but in reality you're just too far up your own ass to see the world is more complicated than the occasional intersection of reality and your pet theories. I take a certain investment stance for a reason and I assure you with the amount of money that rides on it I've put more thought into it than you. -

Oh and I'm not usually one to dogpile, but that was a tape if I've ever seen one. -

Damn, well done son! You finally developed the fighting spirit and rightfully shot back at me!
You may finally be turning into a man. If only your father were here to see this.
Also, I didn't know you were already well off enough to retire tomorrow. Could you give me the details on this? Mostly I'm curious about what cost of living you're factoring in and the return on investment you expect. Oh yes, with compound interest and a modest lifestyle it could certainly be possible.OK malice, tell us about your investment strategy. Show us a model, something quantifiable beyond "it looked promising lol".
Lanny, you are so pretentious and presumptuous. It was just an idea to consider. I clearly stated that you would need to develop a solid understanding of cryptocurrency and other major subjects relevant to investing in them. Honestly, as if I would advocate investing simply on a superficial analysis, the equivalent of reading a Wikipedia page. This would take at least months before you should dive in.
You repeatedly misinterpret language, something I've pointed out in the past, and it makes you look incredibly annoying and pretentious. Now, I may be certainly be far more annoying, uh, and I suppose pretension, which may be unearned, tends to arise a lot, but I do not misinterpret language and leaps of logic, these assumptions, that you repeatedly do. Combined with the other factors it's just worst. -
2017-05-29 at 2:57 AM UTCAnd, Lanny, you should always remember that, unfortunately, in our world destruction is far easier than creation. Regardless of your place in life, being financially secure and living a normie lifestyle, you know I could get you fired if I genuinely wanted to and put the effort in. A strong dose of an anxiolytic and amphetamine could give anyone a boost long enough to do serious harm.

2017-05-29 at 3:06 AM UTCAlso, I'm literally severely disabled, and I've posted before about how poor the outcomes are. Given that and my terrible, inadequate past, shouldn't that give me a free pass for failure, beyond criticism? Hypocritical Marxist brat, you're all the same at your core.
And I'm not selling possessions to stay afloat, I literally have no use for them anymore and don't want them. I'm not broke, I just don't feel comfortable being below a certain level of savings, despite my simple needs. I was planning on selling them at least a year ago, but, you know, extremely dysfunctional hikidom and suicide. Not entirely sure what I spent the 5K I received for my gold collection from. God, I seriously am not sure. A lot of it may have been weed and alcohol when I just stopped giving a shit, spending that was probably somewhat reckless. -

2017-05-29 at 3:08 AM UTCHave you ever had a job Mally? Like mowing lawns or a concession stand gig? Anything?
-
2017-05-29 at 3:11 AM UTCOnly two weeks in, averaging only about 30mg at this point, aiming to move up to 45mg soon, and I'm already pleasantly surprised by the effects of Nardil. Still in the depressed range, but it's relatively early and the dose is quite low. Even reversing anhedonia and blunted affect, along with anxiolytic and benzo potentiating effects.
Can't wait to see if I experience the threshold effect. First thing I'm going to do is focus on enacting my revenge on Lanny. Human beings should be consumed, everything they have worked for in life feeding me, life a predator and its prey. -

Yeah, it was only on the weekends for 5-6 hours and it was terrible, so I quit and decided never to work menial labor again. SSI is better than that, and I am not concerned with conventional morality or the inferior viewpoints of others.
It was actually the first job I was hired for when I came to the bay area, and didn't take that long to get despite the 08 financial crisis. I did work hard most of the time, but I can't stand cognitively unstimulating, repetitive, work and other issues with employment, subjugating yourself under another. -

Yeah, I couldn't live in SF but if I wasn't working I could live somewhere pretty cheap. Given current low and moderate risk investments, if returns hit the 5 year average I'll make in the ballpark of 50k annually. Sans housing my current lifestyle involves $800~1.5k spending monthly so as long as I can provide for housing for under $1k I should be fine. That seems doable in Colorado, which is somewhere I wouldn't mind living. I like the mountains, love to ski, don't mind the cold. The hick-ness of it might prove trying, even denver is kinda, uhh, not an amazing city to me but I think the tradeoffs are worth it. Mind you in the event of downturn or significant unexpected expense I'd be in trouble, so I'll probably stick in the workforce for a bit longer but I count myself quite fortunate that I have the choice.Lanny, you are so pretentious and presumptuous. "hey malice, you should invest in the manure industry"
"lanny, that's dumb, what's the manure industry got going for it?"
"it was just an idea for considering bro, what poor language skills you have. You need to go and do a bunch of research to figure out if what I just told you was good advice or not"
"wow, thanks lanny, you're such a market guru". -

I don't understand why this shit is so rare/hard to get. You mentioned it idk maybe a week ago that it's nearly impossible to source so I took it as sort of a silent and unspoken challenge and indeed I checked every resource I could not being able to find a drug within 72 hours has literally never happened to me in the past two years wtf is this stuff really that awesome or is it just not common? Perhaps it doesn't hold much recreational value but even that wouldn't come close to explaining it's scarcity. -
2017-05-29 at 3:26 AM UTCLanny, are you using the 5 year return rate for the Standard and Poor index fund?
The 5 year return 14.66%. That's significantly above average and won't last. The business cycle and it's regularity is one of the most basic things you learn in econ. Also, you may have significant concerns about Trump, or another financial crisis.
If you were honestly calculating your projections on such an unrealistic long-term return rate you are an absolute retard. You should know better, considering you work in the financial industry and have claimed to have put considerable research into your investment strategy.
I hope another crash happens ASAP so your fund loses a large amount of its value, hopefully never recovering with you descending into severe alcoholism and depression by the time an economic recovery begins. -

No recreational value, extremely uncommon. It is not often prescribed. I've heard there are only 80,000 users of Nardil worldwide, which is tiny compared to other drugs, particularly SSRIs. -
2017-05-29 at 3:29 AM UTCYes malice, I do know better than that. Weren't you the one getting all bent out of shape over being underestimated or something?
