It's a fair point tbh fam. Life is full of horrible fates and tragedies that religious folk have to justify as "God can't interfere it's just how it is" while simultaneously balancing "God loves you unconditionally and it's all His plan." Basically God would have to know exactly the outcome of everything that he is creating therefore God knew babies would get horribly raped and went ahead with it anyway. I guess I'm talking more specifically Christianity as I don't enough about any other religion but nonetheless anyone who believes in an all-powerful creator has to rationalize this sort of thing somehow.

In fairness to God, I was envisioning a world where even reddit atheists go to heaven. It's just the fence sitting fuckos like me who don't get into heaven, but especially the ones to whom god's existence is made apparent and for whom that somehow still is not enough. I could see that irritating me if I was even a little pompous, and deities have every right to be.

Yeah I myself told God hey man like no disrespect but I'm not gonna go to church or like really actively believe in you anymore but also it's nothing personal and if you're real you already know all this so if you just please forgive me and my feeble human brain and not let me get raped by the devil for all of eternity if I am in fact wrong, that would be much appreciated. I'm hoping that covers my bases.

In the meantime I like to just roam the streets looking for people with just a glimmer of hope in their eyes and inviting them over to convince them that theyre fucking stupid and we should talk about it all day long on my atheism podcast

if you want to be cynical it makes the most sense that major religious doctrine was conceived as a way to communicate the 'correct' way to behave socially to masses of people who are unable to think directly on why they should return the trolley instead of just leaving it next to their parking spot

Obbe Alan What? [annoy my right-angled speediness]
I spent years thinking about that.

I think whatever the truth is, it is beyond human comprehension and trying to figure it out is probably just a waste of time.

This is one of those things where I can convince myself with a pascal's wager of sorts, but that's probably only the case because I don't have much better to be doing. I can understand why "you have an opportunity to understand divinity! what if you're wrong about it being a waste of time? you'd be a fool to squander this chance." might not be super convincing to someone with... like... a job, or any other interests really. What else are you gonna think about though? Boobs? What to eat for dinner? Psh.

Only 144,000 humans go to heaven, as ambassadors for the people. The rest stay right here on Earth. That's why the Garden of Eden was created, to populate the Earth, not heaven.

Our unique little soul installed within the product by the Manufacturer at the beginning. We are given a span of years to discover it, choose it, and live our destiny. If we do not, our True Self will never be offered again in this current unique form.

    Yeah

but I wouldn't describe myself as a christian. I read all bibles, God is Chinese

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hun_and_po

"(Chinese: 魂; pinyin: hún; Wade–Giles: hun; lit. 'cloud-soul') and po (Chinese: 魄; pinyin: pò; Wade–Giles: p'o; lit. 'white-soul') are types of souls in Chinese philosophy and traditional religion. Within this ancient soul dualism tradition, every living human has both a hun spiritual, ethereal, yang soul which leaves the body after death, and also a po corporeal, substantive, yin soul which remains with the corpse of the deceased. Some controversy exists over the number of souls in a person; for instance, one of the traditions within Daoism proposes a soul structure of sanhunqipo 三魂七魄; that is, "three hun and seven po". The historian Yü Ying-shih describes hun and po as "two pivotal concepts that have been, and remain today, the key to understanding Chinese views of the human soul and the afterlife"

Members, it is claimed, do not believe in a transcendental being or in an absolute leader. Instead, the focus is on cultivating the “sacred consciousness” (shinseina ishiki) in each individual and in particular the “love of a million people and things,” compassion and benevolence. God itself is seen as a symbol of the individual “sacred consciousness.” Special people, such as Buddha, Jesus and Mohammed, are external symbols of the deity. Symbols may differ, but the sacred consciousness is unique and remains constant . The idea of a “guru” or absolute leader, therefore, is rejected and peace and equality among religions is advocated. By cultivating the “sacred” in every individual the group stresses the idea that all beings are equal and that members are not considered spiritually superior to non-members (“Basic Principles” n.d.).

According to the 2010 textbook, the group will henceforth incorporate several “sacred symbols” and practices from different religious traditions. Although the new organisation will have, at least at the beginning, a stronger “Buddhist flavour,” it aims to include teaching and practices from other Japanese religious traditions, including Shintō. In particular, the group emphasises that their references to Buddhism will not be limited to the historical Buddha Shakyamuni, but will include more aspects related to the Japanese Buddhist tradition and its connection to Shinto and a vaguely defined “natural religion.
