ie it's not that they derive pleasure from making you uncomfortable, it's that oppression and suffering are the lenses through which their Western (read: Christian) secular reimagining of Manichean theology was informed. All of life is a conflict between Good and Evil, and through those lenses of "an oppressor, and the oppressed"; "an assailant, and a victim made to suffer" two things follow: the former is obviously Evil, therefore the latter must be Good. It helps too, that they believe themselves to be the latter. Very difficult to see yourself on the side of Evil - nobody does Evil knowing they're doing Evil, they ~always believe themselves to be doing Good. Even when they are fully aware of how Evil they are being and admit to this, a person will have deluded themselves into believing that this great Evil they're perpetrating will in fact bring about some greater Good.
