in terms of Ukraine their counteroffensyiv has been effectively called off in favour of long-range air and sea drone attacks on Russian territory and shipping lanes. it calls into question where all of these sea and fixed-wing drones are being manufactured

In the last week or two the ground military has slowed to a halt, seemingly in favour of 'terrorist' attacks. I don't personally think it's useful to describe them in such a way, but the most recent attacks fit the subjective definition of 'terrorism' commonly used over the last 20 years and thus the precedent on how it can be dealt with, and more or less obligates Russia to deal with the suppliers of the weapons being used rather than just the people using them.

There have been multiple waves of attacks using aerial drones against civilian/commercial infrastructure on border regions, Crimea and Moscow (at least two fixed-wing drones slammed into commercial buildings).

There have been multiple attempts to attack both military and commercial sea targets, such as the Sevastopol base or Russian navy, most recently an oil tanker was hit.

There's also been a recent focus on bridges and other infrastructure, such as the drone attack on the Kerch Strait bridge or, more recently, missile strikes on two smaller bridges in the area.

Most recently, the AFU has continued its indiscriminate shelling of the Donetsk with the recently-provided cluster munitions from the US stockpiles.

Almost all of these attacks made use of weapons manufactured outside of the Ukraine - many of the long-range drone attacks have been old Soviet STRIZH recon drones provided by post-Soviet states, sea drones are unclear but do not appear to be domestically manufactured, the missiles used in long-range strikes are the British-French SHADOW STRIKE missiles and the cluster munitions are US hardware sent in place of 155mm artillery rounds they can no longer replenish.

The fact that they've chosen now to start openly using these tactics seems to imply that those in charge (whoever they may be) understand there is no chance of military victory on the AFU's stated terms (return to 1991 borders, effectively) and intend to turn it into a wider war.

my asssesstment is that theyre trying to get russia to attack western ISR asssets since these attacks are only possible with the asssistence of these asssets.

probably, but even without drones/satellites guiding them the attacks could easily continue, they'd just be far less accurate

    its not that simple.

the need all those advanced ISR asssets to find out russians loopholes where AD/WD coverage are leaky and insufficient, ships movement, potential targets that really belong to russians etc etc.

remember their water drones have what many suspect to be starlink dishes.

shelling LDNR is the only thing they can do competently on their own.
  19. This war became the dullest event of the early 21st century.

  20. Very soon, Ukraine, as it was once known, will cease to exist.
