He was beaten by the other prisoners on orders from the guards (same thing as happened to the Jan 6th defendants) - tell tale glowie move - then set free with all his passports (note the plural), etc. with a court date in a few days and told he would be found guilty.
He drive to Hungary on one of his motorbikes. I'm surprised he didn't head to Russia, since he's always on about how great they are.
He had what most Ukrainians don't have, a foreign embassy agitating for him (in this case the Chilean one, the yanks wanted to see him burn).

Niger produces something like 5% of the world's uranium and the industry is dominated by the French; the military government has now completely banned mineral exports to France and is likely to nationalise French companies.
the West is trying to use African trade unions to sanction and even 'intervene' in the Niger, but the African countries where France (intentionally?) failed to provide stability have instead turned to Russia and Wagner, and have openly stated that they would treat such actions as a declaration of war.
to compound that, both France and the US have military bases in Niger. -

from my understanding of US africom and general knowledge of france, they both only have a tiny fraction of man/non-binary-power stationed in the entire african continent.
the francaises are still pretty butthurt from the fallout of AUKUS deal and they are highly unlike to enroll the aid of the US and NATO in their colonial role playing game.
thr french can intervene militarily, and then what ? vagner came in with the full or partial support of russian government, and then what ?
the EU is going to make an exception to article 5 the first thing conflict broke out because africa is so and so.
and nobody other than the europeans needed nigerian uraniums that much, and europeans arent going to fight a war with russia just to secure some uranium that they can just buy from russia. -

it will be a nice drama pitting french foreign legion against vagner, but to expect anything bigger than that is just chrismass whishes. -

providing Africa with alternatives to the status quo cannot be allowed, especially when those alternatives could likely benefit them more. -

they're not totally helpless at the moment, though they might be in the future.
if you're losing the resources you need to build and maintain weapons, do you use your existing weapons to try to reclaim those resources? or do you simply let it happen in the hopes that things work out? -

*-weapons that has been battle tested to be useless and unreliable against russians. theres a reason the french sent their wheeled APC, which they called "tanks" to the ukraine. its faster in reversing than moving forward. they have nothing that works effectively against russians and the more weapon they donate to ukraine the more russia will be vaccinated against these wunder waffles. and the only thing left will be nukes.
do you envision macron as a man capable of employing armament d'nuke ?
btw, even if and when they're capable of getting all the raw materials required to produce weapons, they wouldnt have the energy or human power to produce them in sufficient quantities to fight a resource and energy rich country like russia.
not to mention their stringent environmental and low CO² policies that effectively crippled their productivity.
war in africa will also be very different from the mechanized war in ukraine. its going to be low tech and men-intensive similar to the ones NATO fought in iraq and afghan. and we already seen the season finale of afghan.
