They do this sort of thing for the same reason they establish an item at an unreasonably high price before discounting it, to make you think you got a bargain.

i mean some hard drives utilize multiple disk to achieve X capacity while while others just one.

he meant they artificially jack up the price of 12tb hdds to unload their new 14tbs.
  13. Right now in my main PC I have 2x6TB and 1x 1TB SSD (13TB)...the 2x6TB are both full (maybe 150GB free on both).

So I'm take out 1 of the 6TB (put that in the TV computer), put in the 14tb giving me 21TB and that should keep me going for another year or so.

The 12TB one is discounted (and still more than the 14TB)...the 14TB one isn't...this is common pricing fuckups for Microcenter.

    i c.

the last time i was shopping for hdd the highest capacity was 6tb.

Yes there are negroes working there...as you can't see the links...the 12TB is reduced from 247.99 to 205.99...the 14tb isn't reduced and is just priced at 199.
  19. I was contemplating the 16TB model @ 264.99 but figured the extra $65 for only 2TB more wasn't worth it...by the time I fill up this drive another 14TB will probably be $150.

this is normal i guess, based on market price.

the older 12tb was ordered sometime back during covid induced shortages era and thr newer 14tb were post pandemic, post lockdown stocks.

edit: remember shipping charges were thru the roof during lockdowns.
