VI seemed harder...VI has been one of my favorite games since those times but a lot of that might be the association of the time period and the memories of traveling around etc.
I think VII is a more "linear" game (even though it's not really linear)...It's also easier than VI...again maybe because your goals are more clearly defined than in VI.
I'd put VI still ahead for nostalgic reasons...but VII was very close. I'll have a break for a while before I try MM8 out.
