If you're a classic PC RPG fan and love things like Dungeon Master and the Eye of the beholder series then the "modern" Legends of Grimrock 1 and 2 can't be beat.

yes, 12 hours of non stop typing the word "climb" to scale an ingame mountain would be cool.

climbing a mountain isnt easy and it shouldnt be so just because its a game.

did you ever play morrowind? pretty early on a guy comes crashing to earth in your path, with notes and scrolls for a spell that allows you to jump hundreds of meters into the air

if you try to use it, you quickly realise that the spell doesn't last long enough to cover the landing so the only way not to get pulverised is to land in the water somewhere

it pisses me off how morrowind has spears which have not been in an elder scrolls game since

it's really good, massive time sink though

if you want to give it a try use openmw with the original game datafiles, it's a modernised engine, all the graphics mods and stuff still work

every time I pick it up again I want to use throwing knives/stars etc. because they're cool but they're incredibly useless, like zero reason to take them at all instead of a bow

The real meat and bones of Oblivion is getting strong enough to clear Oblivion gates, that's the entire gameplay loop (also DLC)

THe DLC for oblivion feels like new vegas DLC in how much it extends the gameplay of a playthrough.

Oblivion is all about SIGIL STONES that's like the FUS ROH DAH

also if you get the wizard tower DLC, save inside it and then turn it off, when you load in you will be in a secret developer room with broken items

There's the thing...pretty graphics don't make a game...a really good game you don't even notice the graphics.

skyrim has these amazing csves or dungeons just beautiful looking. you csn play the game just to enjoy the environment like forget sbout poland or winter or it being cold here and not gomoutisfenjust walka round in skyrim to get mesmorized.

You need actual dungeons where each is individually created by hand...you don't get that in Skyrim...you get generated samey crap.
