Well, fuck. I know I've been doubted before, and I should be (Lanny), but it's not even that uncommon among people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Seems around 17% may eventually experience catatonia-like deterioration. It's not even speculation, that's literally what the available data suggests. Actually came across a book on this subject I just downloaded.
I mean, this fucking sucks, but I guess I'll just have to be on a ridiculous dosage of benzos until/if a better treatment is found. Main concern is being misdiagnosed with some form of schizophrenia (should still be considered) and being put on anti-psychotics, which would only make things far far worse.
Makes sense that eventually the extreme chronic stress caused by a variety of factors would lead to some neurodegeneration.
I guess I could always take matters into my own hands and just take flubromazolam indefinitely, but I'd prefer not to test positive for non-prescribed benzos if I'm drug tested and would also like some blood tests (cortisol, sex hormones) along with MRI and EEG testing.
I wish I was being a hypochondriac, but this explains a lot. Becoming increasingly locked in is a nightmare scenario, and I'm actually going through it. Everything I tried to handle on my own in the past really revolved around being on the autism spectrum. At this point it's really just benzos that by far do the most to help. I'm not even really taking any significant amount of supplements or nootropics like I did in the past. -

It's rewarding seeing the progression of her behavior, comfort around me, signs of affection and happiness. She used to have a concerning number of scabs, likely from fights with other cats, some fur loss from behind her neck. Ever since I started feeding her good food and letting her stay the night, or whenever she wants in and I'm awake, these have reduced considerably.
I also noticed that she seems cool with little guy (girl?). Little guy seems to have gone back to her normal behavior after being spooked for a few days, maybe a week, after a gust of wind knocked over her bowl and blew the screen door against the wall. Bella still seems at ease around me and comfortable with physical proximity, at least enough to place water and food right in front of her.
I wonder if they've all unified around me, in a way. Makes sense that competition for resources would be a major driver of territorial and aggressive behavior. Me feeding them, them having a common figure to group around, a territory to meet and source of food, likely reduced that.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

She's actually a stray. She's been spayed, you can tell because they notch one of their ears. Probably had a home before, but lost it, based on her friendly behavior. A sort of neighborhood cat. She doesn't stay in all the time, but does seem to like coming in for food and water, and staying the night.
Been gaining the trust of her and mainly two other cats over the past few months, one semi-feral, long enough that she won't let me touch her and her daughter. Feral cats, ones that revert to their wild behavior, especially ones that were never socialized to be around humans as kittens (her daughter) are incredibly skittish. You have to be very patient and use certain techniques to gain their trust over the course of months.
I just feel an affinity to them, can relate to them in multiple ways. Their company and progress is enjoyable, and I'm at least making their hard lives easier for some time, reducing their suffering. Eventually I'd like to trap them and take them in to be spayed or neutered, there's a non-profit I found nearby that does it for pretty cheap called "Fix Our Ferals" (Someone on Yelp mentioned it's only $20 for ferals, although I'm not entirely sure they're still open). You have to put down a deposit for the traps, though, and I'm pretty fucking poor and unable to function right now. Want to do it soon to prevent more homeless kittens from being born, they tend to live rough short lives and ideally I'll probably move sometime this year. -
