the Russian public, the military and even a lot of the political apparatus wants to ramp things up hard and finish this asap but Putin's more moderate and playing a long game, so the only sense this would make as a false flag would be to force Putin to change tact and stop 'wasting lives'.
I don't really see why people would believe it was a 'false flag' over a desperate Ukrainian attack though - they've been lobbing drones and artillery at random border cities for weeks now (at least five attempted drone strikes on Russian towns in the days prior), and the Soviet recon drones they convert for longer range attacks are extremely hard to detect and engage. remember in the early days of the war they lobbed one of them at Croatia and none of the countries on the way even detected it until it malfunctioned and crashed?The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

as a false flag it'd make sense to demonstrate that the centre of Russia's SAM echelons isn't safe and that the war needs to end as soon as possible -

that's the point, if it was a false flag (which I doubt) it would've had to have been military hardliners pushing Putin to fully commit instead of slowly whittling down the AFU to try and minimise civilian impact/possibility of direct foreign involvement (Cuck Warfare™) -

they're testing fully autonomous anti-tank weapons; these things aren't radio controlled. they're meant to prowl around a set area and engage tanks from long range with ATGMs. they have aerial drones used for spotting that are attached to an umbilical so that they can't be hacked using RF interference, and if they are somehow compromised they can be physically drawn back with a winch
