Yeah sex isn't really the key component of a "relationship", any idiot can get sex.
Even though smiling and laughing may seem unhealthy it's actually VERY healthy, both for your health (lowers stress) and from an establishing meaningful connections with other people point of view.
You should try it, obviously it will have to be forced for a while but after a period of time it WILL become second nature.
