fruits are not vegetables. liquids are not solids. but categories aren't a real thing. they're just an idea. they're a way of thinking about things. 'in reality' nothing is like anything else, and everything is just one undifferentiated thing. things like categories are just used to make sense of things for the purpose of communication.

Just because everything in the world can fall under it's own category doesn't mean that those same things can't also be grouped into other categories. FRUITS is a category. RED FRUITS is another category. RED FRUITS CALLED APPLES is another category. These are all categories. They all exist.

categories are whatever we want them to be. you can even invent and retire categories. they'll be judged by their usefulness.
and this is why, my boy, there are no double standards. 'double standard' is just an accusation that someone makes against someone else. it's not valid unless the person who is accused agrees, in which case he'd stop exhibiting the double standard simultaneously. thus, there can never be a valid indictment of double standards. -
