-
2017-05-19 at 11:13 PM UTCIs this term ever used outside sexism?
If so, could you provide an example?. -
2017-05-19 at 11:16 PM UTCit's a stupid term.
>treat two different things differently
>waaaah, hipocrite! double standard!

no, that's EXACTLY what double standard means. people say, 'the manager has a double standard! he lets chad get away with six smoke breaks but susie only gets one and if she takes another she gets yelled at! it's a double standard!' except susie is a dumb bitch waitress who does nothing and chad is the linchpin of the entire kitchen and works harder than anyone. that's the kind of places you'll see 'double standard' in use. -
2017-05-19 at 11:28 PM UTCWhy does it always have to involve gender and sex though?, I don't get it.
It's like a mens right activist meme except its been around since probably before the internet existed. -
2017-05-19 at 11:29 PM UTCIn that example, people would be misusing the term double standard. Either way, your definition remains the opposite of what double standard really means.

Because they're trying really hard to prove there are no differences between men and women, therefore there should be no differences in how they are treated. -

But if there are physical differences that proves there are also mental differences, their receptors and brains are wired completely differently. We are barely alike. -

2017-05-19 at 11:46 PM UTCYou could use the term in relation to pretty much anything. I doesn’t have anything inherently to do with sexism. The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire!

2017-05-20 at 12:17 AM UTCIf Captain Falcon drinks 19 gallons of cum they call him a cum guzzling faggot. If SpectraL posts they call him a cum guzzling Faggart. That's a double standard.

categories aren't actually real. anything that's any different in any way at all could be in a different category. and unless you're implying people are giving standards to things completely random, for no reason at all, then they they have a cause for their different standards.
there are no double standards. just different standards. for different things.
