How could someone play Skyrim then go back to pre-Skyrim RPGs.
It still kinda baffles me that Skyrim is held up as like a shining example of what an wrpg should be. Like why not oblivion? They’re basically the same game except Oblivion came our first, had worse graphics, and the last piece of good DLC/writing to come out of Bethesda in the form of Shivering Isles.
Not saying oblivion was a masterpiece but every meaningful piece of criticism you could level at it (from which I exclude “muh graphics”) is entirely as applicable to Skyrim. Hell, as shit as oblivion’s copy paste dungeons were I still prefer them to Skyrim’s because at least I didn’t have to redo the weakest fucking puzzle section tediously over and over on every one, I could run in, gank some niggas for loot, and book it without larping as lobotomized Indiana Jones. Even with skyrims ground breaking discovery of circular dungeon design it was still less tedious to backtrack than do those brain dead puzzle sections over and over

it's because of the modding scene
zoomers cannot play a game without it being borderline porno with a party full of anime girls and shoddy gunfighting shoehorned in

I can't even get into skyrim on VR…it's identical to Oblivion with equally boring procedurally generated dungeons and stupid level adapting NPCs.
The combat is wonky as shit like dual wielding was not sneeded, no skills btw
I mean just look at fallout 4, nobody talks about that game anymore despite the "improved" gunplay. Bethesda sucked the soul out of games starting with skyrim. I bought it day 1 release and I wanted it to be good, I really did but idk something just felt off, maybe I was just getting "old"
but the magic is gone and I know it can't just be me because I have played games since that drew me in deep like Oblivion when I was a teenager. Skyrim feels like a chore, I could not tell you the story. Something dragon man FUS ROH DAH!!!
Oblivion I ended up fighting mehrunes dagon multiple times without even really thinking about it, like "OH THIS GUY AGAIN"
