While reading the replies shes been laughing maniacally while covered in feathers and taking deep sniffs of her fingers -

SELBST WENN WIR UNSERE HAUSTIERKATZEN LIEBEN, MÜSSEN WIR NICHT VERGESSEN, DASS SIE TÖTUNGSMASCHINEN SIND, DIE UNSERE GELIEBTEN VÖGEL BEDROHEN KÖNNEN. DOCH DAS BEDEUTET NICHT, DASS WIR KATZEN IN DEN STÄDTEN UND GEMEINDEN AUSSCHLIESSEN MÜSSEN. WIR MÜSSEN EINFACH SICHERSTELLEN, DASS WIR VERANTWORTUNGSVOLLE HAUSTIERBESITZER SIND, DIE SICH BEWUSST SIND, DASS UNSERE KATZEN EINEN EINFLUSS AUF DIE LOKALE VOGELPOPULATION HABEN KÖNNEN.
INDIVIDUELLE HAUSTIERBESITZER KÖNNEN SCHON EINEN UNTERSCHIED MACHEN, INDEN SIE SICHERSTELLEN, DASS IHRE KATZEN DRINNEN GEHALTEN WERDEN ODER EINE SICHERE, ABGESICHERTE AUßENKATZENGEHEGE HABEN. DIESE PRÄVENTIVMASSNAHMEN KÖNNEN HELFEN, UNSERE GELIEBTEN VÖGEL ZU SCHÜTZEN UND UNSERE LOKALEN ÖKOSYSTEME ZU UNTERSTÜTZEN.
DOCH WIR KÖNNEN AUCH ZUSAMMENARBEITEN, UM UNSEREN KATZEN UND VÖGELN ZU HELFEN. DURCH DIE UNTERSTÜTZUNG VON PROGRAMMEN ZUR KASTRATION UND IMPFUNG VON STREUNENDEN KATZEN KÖNNEN WIR DAS WACHSTUM VON STREUNERKATZEN POPULATIONEN KONTROLLIEREN. UND DURCH DIE SICHERSTELLUNG VON SICHEREN BRUTPLÄTZEN UND FÜTTERUNGSPROGRAMMEN FÜR VÖGEL KÖNNEN WIR DIE VÖGEL BEI UNS ANSIEDLUNG UND WIEDERHERSTELLUNG IHRER POPULATIONEN UNTERSTÜTZEN.
LASST UNS ALSO NICHT DIE KATZEN ODER VÖGEL IN DIESEM KAMPF GEGENEINANDER STELLEN. WIR KÖNNEN EIN GLEICHGEWICHT FINDEN, DAS UNSEREN HAUSTIEREN EIN ZUHAUSE BIETET UND GLEICHZEITIG UNSEREN GELIEBTEN VÖGELN UND UNSERER UMWELT HILFT.

Originally posted by Kafka I found a pigeon in my garden, a cat was watching it closely and a few seagulls. I kept having to scare the cat away. I didn't see any injuries but it was very slow to move and seemed sick. I picked it up with some rags and have put it in the garage now and made sure no cats or anything can get it, but it's dark in there and I don't want its final moments to be in that dark garage, it's a bird. I don't know what to do with it or who to call.
Thanks for being nice to the pigeon!! -

2023-03-28 at 1:12 PM UTCIt's a bird, I'd let the cat handle it or if it bothered me I'd just twisted its neck. Our cats will torment a mouse for hours, catch it, let it go and catch it again.
Haven't had a field mouse problem since getting our 2 cats. -
2023-03-28 at 1:19 PM UTCYou did a good thing Kafka, fuck anyone who doesn't think so. Even though it died it had its last moments safe from predators and in as much comfort as possible for a wild bird. He wasn't torn apart or eaten alive. You did all you could and more than 95% of people would have done.
