Some people just have really weird brains. It's something I've wondered before: What if some people reach a level of intelligence and understanding where it begins to work against them, they reach the pinnacle of alienation, and just find that life has no meaning and there is no compelling reason to live. His social isolation and likely alcoholism are interesting factors, having died at only 49.

that's certainly part of it... I've seen statistics indicating that if everyone on the planet consumed resources at the rate of the US, we'd need 4x the known resources on the planet to support the population. 5.5x for Saudi Arabia. Consumption is way too high, wasteful and irresponsible to be sustainable - people like to say they care about the environment or the future until they get a decent-paying job, then they only care about next-quarter profits or their salary.
Globalism is the drive to smash open markets at any cost - George 'fuck sovereignty' Soros himself was quoted as saying that war is a wrecking ball to open markets; that war and capitalist globalism were two components of an effort to destroy culture, tradition and self-determination if it gets in the way of profitability. it's not so much overpopulation that's the issue either; we consume resources at a completely unsustainable rate so of course increasing the population multiplies consumption, but things like planned obsolescence and the demand for constant growth increase waste of those resources exponentially -
