2023-03-03 at 10:55 PM UTCfair enough in a castle or something, maybe more as a display of opulence than anything else but building them out of stone or cement doesn't seem practical
especially in the Ohio backwoods -

If they were rich enough to own castles they likely owned land such as woods as well. It is more practical to have them made from stone because they can't carry crates around while riding and the stone is easier to spot if they need a break. -

2023-03-03 at 11:20 PM UTCSometimes I wonder if Aldra is senile and picks arguments here instead of playing sudoku like the other old people.

That squires helped aristocratic ladies mount/dismount their horses instead of there being stone steps for them in the 1800s? You're also implying the ladies never went riding without a male present. -

2023-03-03 at 11:37 PM UTCI don't care enough to look any further into it
what I'm saying is sure, there are stone mounting blocks around but it's not practical put them up everywhere you might want to ride a horse, even a quick look at wikipedia indicates they were often made of wood
and yes, in a general sense aristocrats from that period had entourages that followed them around and helped them with everything -

To be fair, the horses would come to the stairs, not the stairs coming to the horses. -
