And I did answer: It's extremely valuable data if you're interested in quantifying yourself, gaining as full an understanding as possible. Is that not valuable or rational?
Lanny, I swear, you are acting so damn autistic right now and you don't even notice. Stop being a spoiled brat and take the damn test, and take it seriously. -
2017-05-17 at 4:09 AM UTCThe test probably just reflects how autistic you perceive yourself to be rather than what you really are anyway.

'there's nothing you can add to it. a little salt, a little pepper, maybe a knob of butter on the grill to baste it with. but barely do anything to it, let the freshness and the flavors of this mental disability shine. you want that mental disability to melt in your mouth, you don't have to do much, it'll be very easy to ruin it. it's almost perfect, just the way it is'

Yeah, they're so easy to cheat based on your desired/expected outcome. I just went for a score of 0 and that's what I got:
Your score was 0 out of a possible 50.
Scores in the 0 - 25 range indicate little or no Autistic traits.

This is like saying therapy isn't helpful because you can tell the therapist whatever you want to make them think you have whatever condition you want them to think you have. If you engage the test or the therapist on their terms, then you're more likely to get meaningful results. -

No, I'm just saying that if you anticipate a certain outcome on a test like that, you're more likely to skew your results to get it (albeit unintentionally) because the thing is so damn easy to cheat. -
2017-05-17 at 4:29 AM UTCtherapy isn't helpful for other reasons. and it's also not helpful for that reason.
if people taking autism tests and therapy were capable of choosing to be honest and being honest, then they wouldn't be taking autism tests or therapy. -
2017-05-17 at 4:31 AM UTCMost people go to therapy just to have someone to bitch at tbh. A lot also like the sympathy and being center of attention. Takes a special person to find clinical therapy helpful.

Right, but slight skewing as a result of unintentionally inaccurate answers isn't exactly comparable to consciously going into the test to answer a certain way. If you're trying to be honest it will at least be a reflection of the truth. Plus a lot of the questions aren't particularly prone to bias: you're not going say you enjoy something you hate without realizing you're being dishonest.

I don't disagree, really. But it was the first analogy that came to mind. It's like lying to someone trying to help you to prove that they can't help you, when if you just told the truth they could.

probably not too much less rare than the kind of person that's capable of effective therapy. -

I'd argue that it's a lot more than a 'slight skewing', but even small biases can affect the results in a profound way.... in this case, 50 multiple choice questions with very obvious indicators isn't a lot of data to 'diagnose' a mental abnormality -

I wouldn't say it's a clinically valuable diagnostic tool, only that making multiple people take the test and comparing their results provides at least some insight into their personalities. Same concept as using an online IQ test to compare intelligences: you can't verify that the IQ test is particularly accurate compared to other IQ tests, but you can compare the results of people taking the same test to draw some tentative conclusions about their intelligence. 🙃
It's totally masturbatory and not extremely valuable like Malice pretends it is, but it isn't totally without merit. -

realize this. realize that you're not intelligent. not remotely. and the reason i piss you off so much is because i challenge your most cherished illusions.
