kind of reminds me of the shitty swimming pool I used to go to every now and then as a kid
the tiles around the edges of the pool were all smashed up for some reason so they'd bolt pieces of metal over them to stop people cutting their feet

The north of England in the 50s 60s and 70s (and to a degree into the 80s) was very poor compared to the south...England was broke after ww2 and it took a long time to recover.
As a kid my dad lived on Pea soup for pretty much every meal (maybe why I like it so much now?). His mum used to kick him out in the morning with a coal sack (and raggedy clothes) and she wouldn't let him back in the house till he'd been to the local coal mine and collected/filled the bag with "good" bits of coal/coke that they would find discarded around the mine...so they could have a fire etc.
I've got a black and white photo of me as a kid looking like an Auschwitz survivor...If I remember I'll dig it out tonight when I get home. -

Pedo talk wasn't really a thing back when I was a kid and as such we were not really restricted on being out of the house alone, we'd spend as much time as possible out of the house, playing down the woods or in the streets etc.
The closest I came to being a pedo vicitim was when I was 6 or 7..there was some waste ground we used to play on and me and my friend Robert (died about 5yrs ago) were out there one day and a man approached us and basically force us into a bomb crater (at least that's what we called it)...he made us get on our knees and then told us we had to suck his willy, he took it out and immediately blew his load before even getting it near us...as young kids we didn't know what it was and while his pants were down we both got up and ran like hell.
After we got away we were laughing about it and saying "ewwww did you see that white puss coming out of it"..not knowing what it was at the time. We never told our parents about it, the "man" was probably only 18 or so but to us kids he was a grown adult etc...I'm sure he probably had greater success with other kids the sick bastard. -

i think child molestation was very widespread in the west back then which is why the west is so butt hurt and allergic with child molesters today after all those boomer grew up and had a voice and a vote and vowed never again.
like they said, the best way to raise child abuse awareness is to abuse the children yourself. -

Maybe, but as I said it wasn't really a thing back then as far as it being talked about all the time like it is now...and I expect most of it took place indoors rather than kids being abducted off the street etc.
All kids went outside and walked to school etc by themselves without mummy and daddy holding their hand. -

Yeah some busy body will call the po-po on ya. Jiggaboo story sounds a little like the time some perv tried to lure my sister into the car when we where kids. Unlucky for him my stepdad was home and ran out with a shotgun, blew his back window out while he sped away.
Stepdad probably knew about him and being the crazy violent guy he was probably cut his ass later. -
